[mathis is, at least, freaking out a little less today! a little. he's dressed normally again, and when kanda comes across him, he's just finishing up with his knife; he straps it into place on his thigh, gives it a little tug to check it's secure, and breathes a little sigh as he straightens up again.

...then immediately shrinks in on himself a little when he spots kanda. but he doesn't run! progress.]

[The way sweet Mathis is exactly like one of his coworkers so he doesn't even bat an eyelash at this behavior

Kanda is also dressed normally again, and he has his hair tied up and a sheathed katana in his hand. Given how Mathis reacted when they met, Kanda would actually probably leave him alone, but this whole setup reeks of DGM bullshit to him and work overrides the small amount of niceness he does possess. So--]

You. [PLEASE learn people's names] Have you seen anyone suspicious around?

Week 0, Thursday

[At some point in the day Mathis can find Kanda meditating in the woods, quiet and peaceful...

Also one of his feet is way too big.]

Week 0, Saturday

[I'm so glad I was out for the majority of trial because otherwise Kanda would've fuckin bodied Mathis out of the way to start attacking Boothill instantly

BUT INSTEAD he just goes to the barrier as soon as trial is over and attempts to take him out there!! And fails, of course, because this is a murdergame. Incredible. Eventually he'll have to admit defeat and stalk off--will Mathis come find him or will they just cross paths by happenstance]

we're here with the cows. why is kanda with mathis and the cows? exploring. idk. we're here now, where mathis is petting one of these round, adorable cows on its precious little head, looking a little awed as it lets him.


and then it gives his face a big slobbery lick. as cows do.]

[WE ARE JUST HERE, peacefully coexisting. Kanda probably won't spend a lot of time here because he's a boring asshole with no hobbies, but we can say he's here to pet the farm dog for a bit before he goes off to do. Idk. More sword training probably.

Week 1, Sunday

And I'm also SICK OF WRITING SILENT STARTERS FOR EVERYONE RIPS OFF MY SHIRT!!! So whenever they cross paths again, he will stop and look at him.]

No, I didn't. But, um, I do... suspect one of them may have died... that depends on whether we interpreted evidence correctly, s-so I don't want to say I truly think so, though.

[he had other reasons for coming to find kanda but important stuff first]

Week 2, Monday

Week 2, Thursday

[There's probably like 800 people waiting by the swamp for Mathis but I don't care HE'S HERE WAITING BY THE SWAMP

The difference between his reaction to CYOA returns last week and this week is truly night and day it's so funny]

[oh. he-- isn't expecting him to come find him, actually, blinking over at him.

mathis still only has one eye, and where he was burned (so both feet and then spots all over his body) are now scarred black, pulsing red beneath. he takes a step-- and makes a pained little sound, wincing.]

Week 2, Friday

[Man it must suck to be a person who makes friends instead of being an antisocial bitch

Kanda's pretty easy to find!! He's not looking for anybody, but he's sitting by the pyre, soaking up the vibes. The lazy version of meditating tbh.]

not purposely, but these particular three were two people he lives with and someone else he was close to, so!! it's bad!!

he's doing his best to stay quiet when he sits nearby, though.]

w2 saturday

[hi he's going to come find kanda... eventually... is he allowed. where is the boy.]

[Well Kanda got dragged off after trial but by the time Mathis finds him he's probably back out by the pyre, sitting down with Mugen and watching the veils as always. The main difference is that he's heavily bandaged; his coat sits over his shoulders, but he didn't bother putting a shirt on over his injuries. It's partially covered by his bandages, but Mathis can glimpse cracks peeking out of the edges, as well as some marks on his arms.

Mathis can approach though! It would be tough for Kanda to leave either way but he doesn't particularly seem like he wants to, he's just focused on watching the veils.]

Week 3, Monday

[How did Kanda even get this far out into the woods when he's injured. A mystery.

Either way, he's somehow made it all the way to this stream; Mathis can find him sitting and meditating out here much the same way he does in the woods in town. Kanda get a hobby. Please.

Since he's so still and quiet, there are probably plenty of animals nearby--a deer and a few rabbits, maybe some birds!! Can Mathis get all the way out here. Is he okay. Help.]

[HE CAN MAKE IT HE'S NOT THAT BADLY INJURED STILL...

however, he's not That stealthy. he can't make it close without startling off a rabbit, though the deer and birds seem a little more chill as he finds a spot to take a seat.]

Week 3, Wednesday

[Slaps down a starter on mobile. Kanda probably leaves the event relatively early, unwilling to stay long amongst a crowd, but he doesn't head back right away; instead he moves into the library to rest a little before he heads back to the house. Healing like a normal human is so slow, damn.

He's not much of a reader, though, so when Mathis finds him he's just kind of. Boredly flipping through a book on flowers.]

[hewwo. mathis takes a seat next to him, though still allowing a little space between them; he doesn't want to crowd kanda.]

He is here by the pyre, guarding Caelus's veil as usual. He looks over at him as he approaches.]

[he's at the amusement park! standing here, looking wide eyed at the ferris wheel.]

[He will be here exactly one time because he doesn't like this place but it's fine we are here. I feel like technically he shouldn't know what ferris wheels are but they probably exist in some random episode of DGM so whatever.

[yeah after he left the confession mathis is. absolutely coming to find him. he's not calling out immediately, sort of gauging the Vibe.]

[Oooooh the vibes are bad man!! They're bad!!!! No clear thoughts come through the thoughtshare because he's purposely suppressing them, but he did immediately leave as soon as the confession brigade revealed themselves and headed for the woods, which is where he's at now, with Mugen in hand.]

[His tone is--tight, because he's clearly not pleased with this, but. He's trying to hold onto an ounce of self-control and not snap at Mathis, who didn't do anything.]

he's honestly probably waiting so that lavi can see him first. but at some point after he's allowed a while for that, mathis is going to be coming to check in on him, doing his best to keep his thoughts quiet and to avoid just absolutely emanating concern.

[Comes back now that I have swamp results HELLO SWEET MATHIS

He is freshly swamped!! There are still faint bruises on his neck, and there's light burn scarring on the left side of his face, plus his left ear is missing. Any other wounds are not visible since he's back in his normal clothes, which have been stitched up, thank god. Goodbye Nood Doods. His little golem is nestled in his shirt. Cozy.

I. Don't know where he is right now actually. The house? The pyre?? SOMEWHERE whatever it doesn't matter. He's tired and holding himself stiffly, but he isn't shivering or wheezing this time, so. It's fine.

He looks over at Mathis whenever he approaches, and nods slightly, though he doesn't say anything.]

Week 6, Wednesday

[Comes back with food (me not Kanda)

Anyway he sticks around the party for a little while but eventually even reunion time gets too overwhelming so he will wander off. I should establish that he's still missing an ear, which is mostly not visible because he has hair down. I will immediately forget about this.]

Week 7, Tuesday

The nice(?) thing about Kanda having such selective preferences is that it's really not that hard to find him. He still goes outside to the nearest wooded area to work through his sword forms every morning and night, though he uses the dojo now too. And he still only eats soba, though he gets it from the food court here, instead of the dwindling stash that Lavi and Yuffie had procured for him at the house.

Mathis can find him in any of these places, or he can go straight to Kanda's room to seek him out. As he saw on Wednesday, Kanda is still missing an ear, but now he also has a bandage on one wrist. He's got a new hair cord that he uses to tie his hair up, and his golem hangs out under his collar or nestled in his shirt, but otherwise, he seems the same as always. A bit more tense with stress, maybe, but who isn't.

He won't seek Mathis out mostly because he doesn't know how much time Mathis will want to spend glued to Lucas and Scien; whenever they do cross paths, Mathis can have a nod. Hello]

[hi! hurrying over to him... he even has both eyes now, congratulations to mathis.

he pauses a second, after coming to his room-- assuming he opens the door anyway.]

Um, this will only be a moment, I promise.

[a little apologetic, there--

mostly because sorry, kanda, you are getting a quick hug as mathis throws his arms around him and clings, just for a moment. it's brief, before he steps back; he isn't going to test his luck, but also, after everything... well, there's no way he Couldn't do this.]

Week 7, Friday

[Slaps up the laziest starters bc it's so fucking hot

Kanda is in the dojo!! He is doing his nightly sword routines, though he's much more focused and intense about it than he usually is. He wants to be extra prepared in case something goes wrong with the power restoration and all.

Mathis can join him and spar if he wants, or he can just sit and watch; alternatively, they can run into each other somewhere else in town!! Up to you.]

[mood i am MELTING.

mathis joins him! he needs the distraction, to be honest-- likely needs a moment at first to manage to focus, his concentration interrupted by his concern and lingering worry. but once he's able to just put his attention on this, on kanda, on fighting him until the buzz of worry settles into the background and quiets, it's easier, especially with emotionshare letting him lean a little on the sharp focus kanda maintains.

it helps. he feels calmer by the time he breaks away, breathing hard, likely bruised up again if kanda is being intense about it. he's set on helping with whatever comes, after all.]

...I think... I think I shouldn't push any further for tonight.

Week 7, Saturday

[HEWWO MATHIS he will actually come find you. He is still covered in blood and zombie bits but it's fine.]
