[This is expecting so much from a guy who had fun once and then got traumatized about it
Honestly he's mostly going up here because this thing feels like it's gonna fall apart and he figures it'd be easier to save Mathis from up here than it would be to catch him if he fell out, even though he doesn't save people, whatever, shut up. He's not a giant but he's tall enough that it's a little awkward to get inside of here, but he manages. Up they go!!]
[maybe so but that's a good reason to do something fun and hope there ends up being no trauma... fun can be normal...
mathis settles in and waits for the ride to move, peering curiously out the window as it begins to ascend.
'i wonder how high it goes... what is the view like from the top-? should... i say anything on the way? or would that annoy him... he's already going out of his way...'
I FORGOT THIS IS A MONDAY THREAD so he still has his swamp effects, e.g. he is bundled up in multiple coats and Lavi's scarf, though he still gets wracked with shivers despite that. Every now and then he struggles to breathe, breaking the silence with his rasping, but he doesn't seem all that bothered by his suffering--at least, no more bothered than he is by anything else. Honestly, even though their numbers are thin, getting away from the crowd is kind of nice? Mathis's thoughts are pouring out of him, but if Kanda truly thought he was bad company, he would've chased him off ages ago.
Eventually, way beyond the point a normal polite person would have mentioned it:]
Your thoughts are loud.
[He doesn't sound any more grouchy about it than he normally does, though--he's just saying it to let Mathis know it's happening.]
[It's fine. Imagine if Kanda said his thoughts instead of being a sourpuss.
He frowns slightly, flexing his fingers from where they're tucked into his coat.]
Not really. [Just, bluntly] But it shouldn't last much longer.
[It's better than more hallucinations... still weird having scars, though.
He frowns harder, then, annoyed; he's not that mad about thoughtshare because he says all the mean things he wants to say without hesitation anyway, but he does think a lot more than he says, so he certainly doesn't love it.]

also waiting. you're coming with him right... he doesn't want to go alone...
so when kanda sighs and heads for the ferris wheel, he looks pleased, little joy flowers emanating from him. yessss.
mathis will cautiously climb in first, careful of the way the carriage seems to sway a bit with the movement.]

[this effect is--
it's not the worst. sharing memories was the worst. but this is up there, when he really would prefer to have a filter sometimes.
he looks over a little worriedly, though, before-]
Um, is trying to keep warm... helping, at all?
