anyway i think rondo has probably heard down the grapevine already about the where and the who of this situation so he's making a beeline for the church - his footsteps echo loudly as he rushes down the center aisle of the church, spots mathis, stops...
and then makes his way over, and sits down right next to him, shoulder to shoulder. ]
[ and he does. zero hesitation. rondo is the kind of guy who gives good hugs - he is naturally very warm, and his arms are very strong, and he sweeps mathis up to his arm and hugs him tight, the other hand coming up to very gently rest on the back of his head and hold him there. ]
... I know it doesn't feel like it, but... it's going to be okay. [ and gives a squeeze to punctuate, hugging him tightly. ]
[he just- crumples into that hug, letting himself be pulled into that warmth, that reassurance. his temperature runs cold, which is all the more noticeable when rondo's got him held like this.]
rondo will hold him tight, then! he feels mathis break and squeezes him tightly, giving them a tiny little rock, too. sometimes, that's all you can do, in the face of terrible tragedy, is hold onto each other and provide if nothing else, a tiny place for sanctuary. ]
